audrey dress 3 ways

I love a dress that I can take from my kid’s games, to lunch dates with the girls, to date nights with the husband! The audrey dress has quickly become that dress in my closet.

Game Day.

Pair it with your favorite tennies and  ball cap and you’ll look amazingly put together, but the secret is- you will be the most comfortable one there!

Lunch Date.

…or donut date 😉  Throw on some booties and a scarf or cute sandals {depending on the season}

Night Out.

All you need is a statement necklace, bold lip, and a great pair of shoes! Maybe one of our favorite holiday shoes!

Grab it now, here,  before we sell out in your size!

gift guide. for the runner.

Screen Shot 2016-11-23 at 8.55.45 AM.png

1. Garmin Forerunner. This is the best watch out there- in my opinion. It has just enough bells and whistles to tell you what you need to know without overloading your brain with way too much information.

2. Feetures Socks. These are my favorite. I have yet *knock on wood* to get a blister in these socks. They are thick enough in the right spots to protect your feet, but thin enough to not take up valuable space in your shoes!

3. Nike Compression Shorts. You know my love for these shorts. Say goodbye to any weird seem chaffing!

4. Orion Mesh Leggings. I love a fun pair of workout pants. These have mesh and lattice detailing!

5. Lululemon Shorts. I have several pairs of these. There are so many fun colors to choose from. They are just a classic workout short.

6. Nike Running Vest. This vest is so light and yet so warm. I have no idea how they do it! It is the perfect layer or stand alone on those cold days.

7. Yurbuds Headphones. You probably know by now that I don’t run with wireless headphones. It’s just one more thing for me to charge, and I honestly haven’t found any that I like as much as these. I’ve used them for 4 years now.

8. Nike Visor. When sunglasses alone won’t cut it, I throw on this.

9. Nike Sunglasses. I searched for awhile for the perfect running glasses. I love how light weight these are and they don’t have any weird pressure points that could end up giving me a headache. My husband actually started stealing these from me because he liked them more than his.. and then lost him! I think I know what I better be getting in my stocking!

10. Believe Training Journal. I’ve talked about this journal before. I enjoy being able to look back on my progress … especially during those running slumps where you feel like you just aren’t progressing or you can’t run anymore.

11. Flipbelt. I have turned countless people on to these! Forget those annoying bouncing belts or those arm bands that rub. This is a game changer.

12. Sarah Marie Designs tees. I love her stuff. She has great tees, sweatshirts, and a new varsity inspired jacket that is too cute!

13. Nike Running Jacket. Another win for Nike. A thin, but warm running jacket.

14. Lululemon duffel bag. This is the perfect gym bag. Room for everything and super cute!

Black Friday Sales!

You know from here that I will be hitting up the sales Thursday night in an attempt to check off some items on my kiddo’s Christmas lists- and come Friday, my daughter and I will grab Nana and head out for some shopping! The son and husband would prefer to occupy anything BUT a mall. Here are a few of the stops I will make in my Thursday/Friday shopping extravaganza!

You can find most everything in the above pics at the stores having sales, below!

Beckam’s outfit: old navy | My sweater: juniper lemons. | My dress: asos (see 3v3) | Beckam’s nursery animal heads: anthropologie. They are having a buy more, save more sale this year! 15% off $100. 20% off $500. 25% off $1,000. 30% off $3,000. It’s the time to buy the stuff you’ve been eyeing all year!

ASOS. UPDATE: 30% off everything! Now, ASOS has not released their official sale announcement yet, but I could not skip them- Last year they did 20% off everything. I bought my Christmas dress, a New Years outfit, and my Easter dress during the sale last year. Load up your cart now and come Friday, apply the code (rumor has it, it will be 20-30%) and you won’t have to think about finding a holiday outfit for the next several holidays!

shortbread and jam

Shortbread is my favorite.  And lavender-rosemary shortbread is my VERY favorite!  For six months I lived in London and shortbread and tea became a favorite snack.  So did chips and beer, but that’s for a different post.  Another UK takeaway?  Strawberry jam.  For whatever reason, strawberry jam is the most popular flavor in the UK, and all of Europe for that matter.

With spring in full swing my rosemary and lavender plants are ready for picking, and rumor has it that strawberry season has arrived.  So it’s time to stoke that London Town nostalgia and cook up some UK inspired treats!  Or do what I did and ask your sister to make them for you 😉

shortbread ingredients

lavender-rosemary shortbread cookies
ingredients:
3/4 tsp rosemary, chopped
3/4 tsp lavender, chopped
2 heaping tablespoons honey
1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups unsalted butter (room temp/softened)
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
2 2/3 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
directions:
combine the sugar, honey and butter. mix them together in mixer (with the paddle attachment if you have one). add the lavender, rosemary, e.g. yolks, and vanilla. mix everything together again until thoroughly combined.
add the flour and baking powder to the wet ingredients. mix everything on the ‘stir’ setting (or just hand stir) until everything is combined. CAUTION:  don’t over-stir. the dough should be sticky and a little wet
dump the dough onto a piece of parchment paper or cling wrap and form into a log about 1 1/2in in diameter. freeze for a half hour or so.
remove dough from the freezer and slice 1/2 in thick. (or you can roll out on a floured surface and use a cookie cutter). place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper, sprinkle with sugar, and bake at 350 for 9-10 min – or when the sides start to turn golden but NOT brown.  remove from oven and cool on cooling rack.

strawberry chia seed jam

ingredients:
24oz strawberries -sliced
2-4 Tbs honey, maple syrup, or agave
2 tbs chia seeds
directions:
in a medium saucepan, combine the strawberries and 2 Tbs honey. cover and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it begins to liquefy (about 5 to 10 min). once the fruit is liquid, bring it to a gentle boil and let cook until it breaks down and becomes saucy, about 5 min. mash lightly until at your desired consistency.
taste the jam for sweetness. if you want it sweeter, stir in additional honey a few tsps at a time.
stir in the chia seeds and let cook one minute. remove the pan from the heat, stir once more, and let sit for 10 min. the jam will continue to thicken as it cools. (if it’s still too thin, add 1-2 tsps of chia seeds)
transfer the jam to an airtight container (mason jar if you have it).  the jam will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or the freezer up to 2 months.
