gifts for mom

You Da Mom!

Mother’s Day is May 14th this year — just a few weeks away!  If you’re going to order a gift, you’d better get on it!  Need some ideas?  Look no further…

This year I will be celebrating my very first Mother’s Day!  I think what I want most is a champagne breakfast with the hubs at home while we swoon over our peacefully sleeping newborn.  But just in case that doesn’t play out as planned, I would LOVE any and all of these gifts!… I mean, those I haven’t already bought myself that is 😉

Our baby boy was born April 17, 2017.  And FYI, this floral robe is currently on sale here!

Happy Mother’s Day!!

Glamour Gels

I had the fun opportunity to attend my first blogger event here in Utah since we moved. My sweet friend/cousin-in-law, Margot, from @houseofoleary invited me to go to an event at Glamour Gels with her. They have just opened up a store here in Utah right outside of SLC and wanted to show us all the amazing things they offer!

The ladies who own it are as sweet as they come. They put together a wonderful event and definitely showcased their talents of running a successful mani, pedi, blow dry bar! They even offer lash extensions and microblading. Talk about a one-stop shop! They have a cute boutique inside where you can buy everything from gorgeous spring dresses to cute sunglasses.

If you mention Juniper Lemons, you can get $10 off your service! Go pamper yourself there today if you live in the SLC area!

Ash’s obsessions

Screen Shot 2017-04-10 at 7.18.37 AM

Diorshow extase.  Where did this magic come from?!  I’m a big fan of the Diorshow and Diorshow Iconic mascaras, so I cannot wait to try out this one!

Lace midi dress.  Such a pretty dress!  Love the color, love the lace, and LOVE that it’s under $100!!

White ruffle sleeve top.  Such a sweet and simple top to pair with spring and summer skirts and shorts.

Aj’s obsessions

ASOS Asymmetric Tea Dress. Such a gorgeous dress. The uneven hem line, ruffles and pretty spring print make it a winner in my book.

Always Chambray Shirt. A chambray shirt is always a good idea- hence the name 😉 This one from JCrew is perfect- not stiff and a great feminine fit.

Topshop Cherry Blossom Shirt. Yet another great print for spring! Floral prints are everywhere right now- and as they should be.

blackberry crisp

IMG_1730

All of the fresh berries at the farmers’ market and grocery stores got me in the mood for a blackberry crisp.  This is a recipe that I’ve pieced together and it’s great because you can use a variety of berries, or even mix them up – blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry — you get the idea!

IMG_1724

berry crisp

filling

1/2 C granulated sugar (or more to taste)
1/4 t cinnamon
3 T cornstarch
6-7 C berries

Butter an 8-9″ square or round baking dish.  Whisk together the sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch in a large bowl.  Add berries to the bowl and toss gently to coat.  Pour the berries into the baking dish.

crust

2/3 C flour
2/3 C rolled oats

3/4 C packed light-brown sugar
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 t sea salt
6 T butter, cut into small pieces

Stir together the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.  Use fingers to squish butter into the mix until spread throughout.  Sprinkle the topping evenly over the berry filling.

bake

Bake at 375 degrees for 50-60 minutes, until bubbling in center and brown on top.  Let cool on stovetop or wire rack for about half an hour before serving.  I love to eat it with vanilla ice cream, and the hubs likes fresh whipped cream.
