Aj’s obsessions

Blank NYC denim. Haven’t tried this pair yet, but I have several of this brand’s jeans and love them! Love the distressing and crop of this pair.

Flirty red dress. Talk about a sale! More than half off! Originally close to $400, now only $119! When you find high quality dresses like this on a sale- you have to scoop them up!

Pale Pink Jumpsuit. If you’re sick of dresses but still want something pink/red and festive for the month of love- look no further! How adorable is this pale pink jumpsuit?! Oh, and it’s only $30.

Brussels sprouts & sweet potato bowl

I am trying to come up with recipes that I love but make them more “fun” for my kiddos…so they eat it how it’s intended to be served- not me having to separate each thing into little individual piles. One thing I’ve found that they love is anything that has been inspiralized!

I make different “bowls” all the time- with whatever veggies I have in my fridge (or freezer!) This one I adapted from an actual inspiralized recipe- and it was a winner:

Brussels sprouts & sweet potato bowl

Bowl:

  • olive oil
  • 2 sweet potatos
  • 1.5 cups sliced brussels sprouts (or more!)
  • 1 bok choy chopped – leaves and base
  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 2 tablespoon sliced blanched almonds

Dressing- combine and set aside:

  • 1  tbsp real maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 2tsp sesame seeds

Directions:

1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Add the sweet potato noodles and season with s&p. Cook, tossing occasionally, for 7 minutes (ish). Remove from heat, put into bowl, and cover with foil to keep them warm.

2. Heat some more olive oil in the (now empty) skillet. Add the brussels sprouts, season with s&p, and cook for 5-10 minutes. You want them cooked and slightly charred. The last 3 minutes- add the bok choy. Then, add the almonds and cook for 1 more minute all together.

3. Add this mixture on top of the sweet potato noodles. Top with pomegranate seeds and drizzle with the dressing! I just keep the dressing in my fridge and drizzle it on anything! It makes a ton and I only use the tiniest bit- i’m talking a true DRIZZLE, not pour. Sometimes I won’t even use it…

You’ve now made a delicious (and fun for kids) meal- and only messed up one skillet and the bowl or jar for the dressing! WIN WIN!

enjoy!

be a dreamer (and a doer)

dreamer1

Seven years ago I bought a one-way ticket to San Francisco, and with two suitcases filled to the brim I set out to change up my life.  I had a job lined up with my then law firm, so that was good, but no apartment, no savings, and lots of debt.

dreamer3

In that first year I changed apartments 3 times (eek), took the California bar twice (oopsie), ran my second ever marathon (YAY!), landed an amazing in-house job at a huge tech company (woohooo!!), and met my now husband (awwww)…

dreamer2

… oh… and I ate a ton of seafood and did much wine tasting 😉

ALL IN JUST ONE LITTLE YEAR!

So much awesome can happen if you just start the ball rolling.

The days are starting to get longer and spring is just around the corner.  It’s the perfect time of year to set intentions.  Be a dreamer! Visualize your goals – however fuzzy they may be at this point – then take that critical first baby step toward attaining them.   And then repeat… dreamer/doer/dreamer/doer/dream/do..

Need a cute reminder? … We got you covered 😉

werk week

Screen Shot 2018-01-20 at 11.44.29 AM

Happy Monday!  Today is the start of my 3rd week at my new day job!  Like many SF tech companies, the office dress code is super casual.  I have’t gone full sweatsuit yet, but I have been subbing out my slacks for denim.  A pretty blouse or fitted knit paired with skinny or straight jeans is my go-to.

floral blouse 1

This floral print blouse was just added to the Juniper Lemons boutique this weekend!  It also happens to be what I wore to my first interview at new co!  I paired it with a black pencil skirt and boots for the interview though.

ASOS skinny jeans  |  Mavi jeans  |  Madewell jeans

Have a great week!!
