I bought my first bodysuit this week.  Then promptly bought 2 more.  The Irwin bodysuit at Aritzia is my current go-to, I love the square neckline.  It’s such a great basic to wear under a crisp blazer.

One of my absolute fave Veronica Beard blazers is on sale now!!  Their blazers aren’t cheap, but they are very well made and super versatile!  Pair the blazer with a hoodie dickey to master biz casual.

What’s your current office uniform?

summer obsession: maxi dress + espadrilles

Hiya!  Summer is here, and in SF we got a few days of HOT, and now it’s foggy again.  Didn’t take much sun to get me obsessing over a fun and flirty summer outfit…

This dress is landed in my inbox c/o an anthro emailer and I can’t stop thinking about it.  The embroidery, the ruffles, the breezy skirt.  LOVE.  Pretty sure it’s only a matter of time before I buy it.

Marc Fisher espadrilles

I have seen so many bloggers prancing around in these espadrilles and I’ve been having serious FOMO.  During last week’s heatwave I ordered a pair 😉

What are your summer fashion obsessions?

what to wear: family photos

We had Bella Life take our first family photos with baby Lawton a few weeks ago and I’m loving how they turned out!  Choosing coordinating outfits for pics is tough.  And it was especially challenging this time since I don’t yet fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes.  I thought I’d share some helpful “rules” that I follow when picking out group photo outfits.

1. Choose your outfit first.

Since you probably planned the photoshoot, you should feel happy about what you’re wearing!  In my case, I was feeling self-conscious about my post-baby body and nothing fit.  I found this charcoal midi dress at Zara used it as my starting point.

2. Limit patterns.

Stick to mostly solid color outfits.  Different textures are fine, but mixing multiple patterns can make the pics feel busy.  I fell in love with Denton’s sweater and so it became the one patterned piece.

3. Coordinating, not matchy-matchy.

The outfits should color-coordinate with each other, but not be matchy-matchy.  In this case, I used the colors from Denton’s sweater as the palate.  The rust color shows up in my shoes, Lawton’s blanket, and Pavel’s shoes and belt.  The cream is repeated in Lawton’s onesie, and the light-gray in Pavel’s sweater.

4. Weather and venue appropriate.

Consider your surroundings.  Don’t wear a sundress in the snow, or a ski outfit to the beach.  And similarly, don’t have one person in shorts and a t-shirt and another in a sweater and jeans.

5. Plan ahead.

A few days before the photoshoot, make sure the outfits are clean and set aside.  This will make sure they’re ready to go for picture day!  It sounds silly, but when trying to get everyone dressed and out the door on time, you’ll be glad you did.

And then enjoy your beautiful photos!

4th of July!

The end of the month has snuck up on me AGAIN and here we are just 1 week away from THE 4TH OF JULY!!

kate dress | lace kimono | star scarf

Traditionally the 4th has been one of my favorite holidays.  I grew up in Texas and spent loads of time bouncing around the midwest before landing in San Francisco.  Independence Day brings up memories of hanging by a pool or lake, grilling sausages, drinking margaritas, and soaking in the sun.  It’s pretty much the perfect day topped off with fireworks!

San Francisco weather doesn’t always cooperate for soaking in the sun, but a half hour drive in most any direction will increase the temps to something approaching summer.  [Here we come Sonoma and Napa! ;)]

What are you wearing for the holiday?!

I strutted around in the ‘Town and Country Bootie’ nonstop when I was pregnant with baby Denton.  These booties slide on easily, the leather just gets more comfy as you wear them, and they go with EVERYTHING.

And Aj snapped this shot when she wore them to the pumpkin patch last fall.  So stinkin’ cute.  AND THEY’RE ONLY $15 !!

The ‘Uptown Bootie’ has been suuuuper popular for spring and summer.  Sizes are EXTREMELY LIMITED with this pair, so if you want them FOR ONLY $15 (!?!!) hurry and snag them now!
