Ash’s obsessions

Soludos espadrilles.  “Hi…”… oh, “Hey”… LOVE THESE!  Espadrilles are super hot this season, and these are too cute.  Also available in black here.  And I’m also a BIG fan of these lemons ones here.

Floral dress.  Just can’t stop with the florals for spring!  An easy shift silhouette with flirty neckline.  And you can wear it with or without the waist tie.

Embroidered cutoffs.  The embroidered detail on these shorts is too cute.  I recently bought these for spring/summer.  I ordered them a size bigger than I normally wear because I like my cutoffs a bit slouchy.  Great for wearing over a swimsuit, or pair with a v-neck tee (like this one or this one) and go!

Aj’s obsessions

Vix striped one piece. Love this classic one piece. I’m always looking for good one pieces.

Surf gypsy cover-up. How beautiful is this cover-up?! Love the white linen but with the fun embroidery color detailing.

Rupa leggings. You know by now I love this company. See my review and more about them here– but this week/weekend, they are celebrating mom’s and giving everyone 25% off all leggings with code: loveleggings

My skin is far from perfect… and with the hormonal ups and downs of pregnancy over the last year, it was especially fussy!  Here are the products that I found to work-

cleansers

First Aid Beauty face cleanser.  A fragrance free, gentle cleanser to remove makeup and dirt without over-drying.  This is my go-to nightly cleanser.

Boscia charcoal cleansing stick.  I use this deep-pore cleanser a couple times a week.  You can use it all over your face, or just on trouble spots.

Ole Henriksen power peel.  My co-worker introduced me to this miracle product.  It is a 3-step home spa treatment that includes an almond polish facial scrub, lemon strip facial peel, and chamomile comfort facial mask.  I’d recommend using it at least once a month, or once every other week.

cleansing tool

foreo

I purchased a Foreo Luna over a year ago and I love it.  It is relatively small and a single charge lasts about 6 months, making it perfect for travel.  And there are no replacement brushes to buy, so just the one time cost.  Use it with your favorite face wash for a gentle but effective scrubbing.

Foreo Luna mini 2

moisturizers

First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 face cream.  This is a multipurpose anti-aging moisturizer with SPF 30.  It repels harmful UV rays, soothes, evens skin tone, combats free-radical damage, and prevents wrinkles.  What else do you need really?!

Kiehl’s midnight recovery concentrate.  Simply massage a few drops of this magical oil onto your clean face before bedtime.  Wear it alone or under moisturizer.  In addition to its moisturizing benefits, it has a beautifully relaxing scent that is ah-mazing.

Korres wild rose moisturizing cream.  A 24-hour moisturizing and brightening cream that purports to repair the look of fine lines and skin discolorations.  I use it every other night or so on top of the Kiehl’s recovery concentrate, and sometimes more often if I’m feeling particularly dry.

eye treatments

Eye treatments are a new addition to my routine, and I couldn’t be happier with these two products.

Kiehl’s eye treatment.  It gently moisturizes and does not migrate into the eyes.  My skin and eyes are particularly sensitive, and I’ve had no issues with this product.

Origins No Puffery.  Just roll the product under your eyes in the morning to de-pouf puffs and brighten dark circles.  The cool roll-on will definitely help you feel and look more awake and alert.

face wipes

FAB caffeine wipes

First Aid Beauty Wake-Up wipes.  These face wipes are infused with matcha green tea to remove dirt and oil while hydrating and reviving.  I use one every morning to to cleanse and prep my skin for the day before applying the First Aid Beauty 5-in-1 moisturizer.

multipurpose balm

rose balm dotcom

Glossier Rose Balm.  This skin salve comes in 4 flavors, but the rose is my go-to.  I previously raved about the product here, and I still love it.  It is in fact a staple in my bag and I use it as a lip balm, on dry skin patches, and I’ve even used it to tame a bit of frizzy by rubbing a small amount between my palms and smoothing over my hair. Simply a great multi-purpose product.

Ash’s obsessionsScreen Shot 2017-04-09 at 4.15.26 PMShower cap.  For about a year now I have been trying to wash my hair less and dry shampoo more.  I think it’s time to find a nice shower cap instead of using and re-using the hotel freebies.

Floral wrap dress.  I would love to be wearing this right now!!

No puffery.  Just recently added this to my regimine.  Love it! Quick and easy way to look more awake and alert.

Aj’s obsessions

Kind Heart Graphic Tee. You know by now that I am a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal- so when I find a fun tee that is under $11 – I’m SOLD!

Nike Roshe Sneaker. I love Nikes, and have too many to count- but these might need to be mine.

Satin Shirt Dress. Would you believe me if I told you this was under $35 and from H&M!? It’s the perfect spring to summer or summer to fall dress! Pair it with sandals for the spring and boots for the fall.

new month, new sale items!

Happy May Day!  Because who doesn’t love another excuse to celebrate Spring?!  A new month is here and we’re putting some more favorites on sale to make room for new inventory.

Need some workout motivation?  Try a new outfit!  Our super popular ‘lattice leggings‘ were just marked down.

Or maybe a flirty sprint dress?  The ‘carol dress‘ was just added to the sale!

IMG_1601column dress

And our super versatile ‘column dress‘ is now on sale!  This dress is mega flattering and looks great worn on its own, with an oversized scarf, or paired with the ‘remi sweater‘, ‘hadley sweater‘, or ‘heather sweater‘.

FYI:  This dress is not just for the stick thin!  The column dress was actually a favorite of mine throughout my pregnancy!  It hugged my curves just enough to show that I was pregnant and not just heavier 😉  I wore it with the remi sweater and hadley sweater, both of which come down low enough to cover my bum – which also got wider while pregnant :-/

Celebrating SPRING in style!

chicken salad

IMG_1711

This week I had some chicken breasts that I needed to bake, but no idea what to make.  I phoned my sister for ideas and she suggested chicken salad – YUM!  So she sent me her mother-in-law’s recipe which was – in true family recipe fashion – a laundry list of ingredients with no measurements or proportions whatsoever.  I used the list as a starting point, and came up with the following…

chicken salad

ingredients:

4 C shredded chicken (~3-4 chicken breasts; see below)
1 C mayonaise (plus more to taste)
1/4 C pickle juice
1/2 C dried cranberries
1 diced Granny Smith apple
2-3 stalks celery, chopped
salt and pepper to taste

optional add-ins:
1/4 C chopped dill pickles
1/4 C chopped pecans

Simply stir all of the ingredients together and enjoy!  Serve on bread, with water crackers, as a sandwich, or on its own.
Tip:  Start with 1 cup mayo, and after you’ve added all of the other ingredients, if additional mayo is desired, add more mayo one or two tablespoons at a time.  It’s much easier to add more mayo than it is to try to take it out.

Re pickles:  Some people love pickles in chicken salad, so I’ve included them as an optional add-in.  For me, a bit of pickle juice is plenty for taste and consistency.  Too many pickles and it starts to feel more like a tuna salad.

shredded chicken:

chicken breasts (boneless/skinless)
garlic powder
pepper
salt

Place the chicken breasts in a slow cooker and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.  Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, depending on the size and number of chicken breasts being cooked.  Remove the chicken with tongs and place on a cutting board or large plate.  Cut the chicken into pieces (roughly 1-2 inch squares), then shred those pieces using two forks.  Use immediately, or freeze in ziplock bags for later use!

I cooked up 5 chicken breasts, because that’s what I had.  For 4 cups of shredded chicken, you really only need 3-4 chicken breasts, depending on their size.

Enjoy!
